WJ Group has acquired the business and assets of tech company Sunstone IP Systems Limited in a deal that will strengthen WJ’s technology solutions and provide a base for the further development of its ITS offering.
WJ Group is the UK’s largest highways safety and road marking solutions organisation - turning over more than £100 million a year as a trusted specialist for the strategic road network, local authorities and many other off-highway areas.
Sunstone’s products include the design, assembly and installation of solar-powered security systems, surveillance and IoT connectivity.
The deal was agreed alongside legal advisers from Knights, whose team was led by Lisa Bridgwood and Luke Pritchard, and accountants at DJH.
Greg Andrews, Chief Financial Officer at WJ Group, said:
“The acquisition was completed within extremely tight timescales through very efficient collaboration with Knights’ team and our M&A team. The valued input from the advisory team helped ensure a successful conclusion to this deal, and another step in WJ’s journey to create safe and sustainable journeys for everyone.”
Luke Pritchard, Corporate Partner at Knights, said:
“It was a pleasure to work with Greg and his team at WJ Group. This was a transaction delivered to a tight timescale, requiring expert input from a number of our specialist teams. The acquisition further strengthens WJ Group’s already impressive standing in the UK market.”
