Catherine is a Partner in the Employment team.
Her expertise lies across all areas of Employment Law and HR practice, ranging from contentious Tribunal work and non-contentious matters including the drafting of directors’ service agreements, employment contracts, policies and procedures and training businesses on their implementation.
Catherine advises on general day-to-day HR queries, disciplinary and grievance issues, collective and individual redundancy processes and TUPE.
During her career Catherine has worked with a wide range of clients in varied roles as a solicitor, Director of HR for a multi-academy trust, and for more than four years as an employment law and HR consultant.
Recent examples of Catherine's work include:
- Advising on the closure and redundancies of staff at a large local foundry (part of an international group of companies whose head office is based in the USA), she has undertaken company re-organisations and collective redundancy exercises for a local manufacturer of wind turbines, a local clothing retailer and a care home provider.
- Catherine has advised a retail department store in North Yorkshire on the successful variation of terms and conditions of employment of a workforce in excess of 150 employees and removal of advantageous overtime provisions together with the restructure of departments within the store and change in management function and employment terms and commencement of Sunday opening.
- She has also advised a premiership and England footballer in relation to dismissal of two of his employees and subsequent employment tribunal claim.
- Catherine has also been part of the corporate advisory teams who advised on the sale of the entire issued share capital of a local domiciliary care provider to a national care company, the sale of a UK nationwide residential developer to an Irish corporation and was the lead advisor on the sale of assets of a road sweeping business to a national organisation specialising in heavy plant and equipment.

- working in a consultancy capacity to the Administrators of the well-known Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company on the closure of its site in Darlington.
